Giant satsumas set for UK shops

Tesco is planning to stock the Japanese giant satsuma, which it says is as large and juicy as an orange but without the unwelcome and messy job of struggling to get the peel off in the first place.
From today, consumers can try the "citrus hybrid", which has previously been unavailable here because of declining demand for satsumas...The main difference is satsumas have pips, unlike clementines, and a hardier skin....more...

Japanese scientists found the key were vitamin A compounds called carotenoids which give the fruit its orange colour.
