Yep. My daughter was born before the law was changed, my son, after the change.
I had to jump through so many hoops, I ended up putting both kids in an international school here.
A month after my son was enrolled at Yokohama International School, I got a letter from the local ward office demanding to know why he wasn't attending the local school. The letter went in the bin. I haven't heard from them since.
Both kids are now grown up, one married. Both have dual nationality.
I wonder if the new royal baby has a koseki, if not, then do my kids have more rights than the little tike?????

Haven't these people ever heard of invitro fertilization? Of course, then that would be another "imperial first" as they keep making a big deal about the C-section they just performed.

We've got a lot of people in and around the kunaicho and even distant members of the imperial family and they aren't commenting. I don't know it to be a myth, but that seems most likely, because our people are blabbermouths and their idea of keeping a secret is to tell it to everybody, but warn them not to pass it on!

Can you imagine how tight the security is going to be for the lad? I'm sure it is overwhelming for Aiko as it is but all the identification of male line with the soul of Japan would make him a fairly tempting target for an extremist from a disgruntled Asian neigbour. Or even a Japanese nutter on a mission.

North Korea had all the opportunity in the world to spoil the celebration yesterday by launching more of those Chimpokodon missiles at Japan.

Why? Japan is males' only last stronghold and she should be proud of it. I hope Japan never becomes a skirt-hugging woossie western country like all the rest that have fallen one by one before her. Fucking white chicks now rule the western world and as a result males have been reduced to fucking becoming gay. Fuck that, never allow a woman to be emperor. And for that matter, there should be a law in the US not allowing a female president.

Imperial baby named Hisahito, with hope for long life
TOKYO — The first son of Prince Akishino, Emperor Akihito's second son, and his wife Princess Kiko has been named Prince Hisahito with a character implying hope for a long life, the Imperial Household Agency said Tuesday.

The parents have chosen the name in the hope that the prince will live long at ease, while the umbrella pine, the coniferous evergreen tree native to Japan, has been selected for his symbol in the hope that he will grow straight and tall, the agency said. The Chinese character for "hisa" means far and away and at ease, and "hito" means virtuous person. It has been customary for the imperial family to have its men's names end with the Chinese character "hito" since Japan's Heian period (794-1185).

Taiwan name expert say Japan royal baby's name is auspicious

dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur, Sept 12, 2006
....'Hisa is a good name because the Chinese character has 15 strokes which is a luckly number. The name shows the boy will be stubborn and meticulous, but will be very popular. He will bring luck to the royal family,' astrologer Yu Hsueh-hung told Deustche Presse-Agentur dpa.
Lin Da-wei, a name expert, also called the new-born prince's name auspicious.
'The 15 strokes is the lucky number of the fate. It signifies a rolling rock and contains positive energy and vitality,' he told dpa.
Lin predicted that Prince Hisahito would be popular...

I won't vouch for the veracity of the story, but my wife told me it last week. She said that before Kiko and Akishino were married, Akishino knocked her up twice, and both times the pregnancy was aborted.

I don't think it sounds impossible, but my guess would be is that it eminated from some sleeze sheet speculation. Normally, the press to include the shukanshi are very, very careful about anything printed about the royals. Reporters who violate these unwritten lines tend to end up in other lines at unemployment windows. Only the Akahata will take on the imperial family, but usually not with speculation or gossip.

I guess being introduced as the bastard emperor would have been too embarassing for Japan.

photographic evidence

Postby samuraiwig » Fri Sep 15, 2006 8:01 pm

Did anyone actually see her pregnant?

I saw some pics from 5 months where she looked very unpregnant, and then the appearance in the back of the car (only visible from the shoulders up) before she was hidden away in the hospital...

Like many Japanese women she looked about 4 months pregnant at full term. She was very conservatively dressed but you could discern a small bump

Japanese women are told not to gain more than 10kg in pregnancy and some OBs even encourage dieting and scold women who gain any weight at all.

She probably gained very little weight, the baby was small, shes small and probably delivered a couple of weeks early hence the small tummy.
