Bought a new National washing machine a month or so ago, one of these:

Apart from the 14 million buttons on the damn thing it seems to do a very good job. Uses less water and denki but washes more clothes at one time and gets em cleaner.

Haven't seen white shirts flying out of it a-la the ad yet though.

poll

Postby etto_neh » Wed Sep 27, 2006 2:46 pm

I'd like to see a poll here asking if anyone's machine will actually fucking completely fucking dry more than 5 t-shirts or 3 large towels at the four-hour setting. If so, I'll buy it. And no, I don't want to hang my shit outside to retrieve later covered in Osaka pollution crust.

I noticed that the machines (washing and drying) at the local sento work magnitudes better than those for household use. But in any case I wouldn't stop you from posting such a poll.

The new ones with heat pumps for drying work better. The heat pump actually sucks out the moisture as well as warms the air.

It is not as fast as a Canadian big-ass drum-style dryer but it also doesn't shrink the clothes as much (very dry air means less heat is needed).

Overall my wife seems happy with the single-unit National setup that we bought. Wasn't cheap though, about 160,000yen.

I bought a Hitachi machine that's a washer and dryer. It was about Y78,000 and will dry a decent sized load in 1 to 2 hours depending on what you're drying. Jeans take a while but I like to hang my jeans anyway so I don't really care. The only problem with it is it's a top loader so the clothes come out twisted and wrinkled. So I have to iron some shit that I'd normally just wear straight from the dryer.
