The site I normally accessed news from appears to have sold out big time and has some seriously obtrusive advertising all through it now..

You mean like Drudgereport? (sadly, I have it on my speed bookmark with Firefox).

I also get my global news from nytimes.com. I no longer rely on CNN, but not Foxnews either as their site layout plain sucks.
