A group of housewives in Tsumagoimura, Gunma Prefecture, has developed dressings for shredded cabbage to promote the vegetable, a local specialty that is grown in the hills surrounding their village...The vegetable is usually seen as a side dish, but the housewives want to promote it as a main dish...In some production areas, cabbage was left in fields to rot because the abundant harvest this year caused the price to tumble.
