"Japanese TV best source of unbiased war reporting&quo

Postby Taro Toporific » Thu Mar 27, 2003 11:48 am

Somehow the combination of the terms ""Japanese TV" and "best source" made me blow hot coffee out my nose when I read this...

Japanese TV proves best source of unbiased war reporting
Wm Penn Special to The Daily Yomiuri / March 27
...It is hard to miss the constant emphasis on fear and threats, weapons and destruction in the U.S. media.
The Japanese media is characterized by a more "mammalian" approach. ...there is much to be said for providing a human dimension to every story.
One of the most poignant TV moments this month was one network's report on a small Iraqi boy who had been nursed back to health at an Osaka hospital. The name of the network and the details of his illness have faded from my memory but his image has not. He was a wide-eyed child of about 10 or 12. After struggling through his long illness, he was given a rousing hospital send-off and taken to taste his first Osaka takoyaki dumplings.

Well there seems to be no such thing as unbiased coverage of anything anymore these days.
The news in the US has failed to mention multiple significant world wide events that dont look good for them, but that was within their own media. Now that Al-Jazeera's converage has been deemed to be Iraqi Propaganda
the Americans have taken them off the net such that no one follow them.

Al-Jazeera's new English-language website (http:english.aljazeera.net), which went live on Monday, and its Arabic-language site (http://www.aljazeera.net) were downed by a hacker attack on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Far from cutting the viewership of this news agency I would say that more people are going to want to view this source.

Can I puke now? I think the Japanese like Hollywood melodrama more than Americans.. Blech..
