Distinguished Men of the late Edo/Early Meiji era[/SIZE]
Via MeFi, I found this interesting collection of ancient photographs from the collection of Tokyo University. There are photographs of distinguished men of the samurai class, which would represent the end of the line. Interestingly, these men all traveled abroad, and were photographed by the famous Parisian Nadar, the photos are presented in pairs, in Japan and in Paris. Then there are photos of men dressed in ludicrous Western outfits, from what I can gather from a brief translation, they were photos made in application for foreign travel. And what good would a photo website be without some titty pics?
