Japanese Schoolgirl Watch: Pervert-Proof Panties

For years, schoolgirls have had to be vigilant about jerks with cameras trying to get a panchira (panty-glimpse) up their skirts. But they have an even creepier problem now: Clever degenerates are modifying their videocam's night-vision mode to see right through fabric, revealing all...

Isn't the night-vision trick from about ten years ago?

Yep. It is just using the infrared spectrum. The earliest video cameras with the "night vision" support did not disable the feature in daylight. People rapidly found that it could be used to see through bathing suits and other thin clothing, so manufacturers now disable it if the camera detects too much light (ie it isn't night).

I believe there are hacks, yes.

People also remove the IR filters from DSLR cameras to use them for infrared photography. (Infrared photography is very cool, most people don't use these cameras to look through swimsuits but a quick look through Google Images shows that there are some who do.)

It was an innocent question. I did not know if it was turned off by default or if serious buffs had to look into their manual to turn it on. There is more to iR than perving it up.

I don't own a video camera that has this feature. Most that do are Sony, and I refuse to buy anything made by that satan-spawn of a company.

Anyway, the ability to use IR in the daytime is disabled. Not just turned off, but rendered unusable. I seem to remember reading that it is possible to hack some models to re-enable IR in daylight, but I can't remember which ones or how much work it was. Good luck with your nudie shots though! ;)

Anything that requires the words "old" and "sony" to be used together has a 99.9% chance of being nonfunctional.

Probably. I remember when I was in Taipei a few years back, all around one of the night markets (where the pirated software vendors had their tables set up), there were guys selling night vision cameras from the trunks of their cars. They had little signs up with pictures demonstrating the "see-through" effect.
