How far does the signal travel? I think some base wives probably think that the signal does not go out of the house and use their own judgement on its safety.

However,
We were told even as far back as 1992 not to use U.S. radio devices in Japan.
I will not abide ignorant intolerance just for the sake of getting along.

The signal travels infinitively, that's the nature of electro magnetism but it gets weaker the more it travels so its very unlikely space aliens on Mars will be listening to some wailing baby. Usually loss of power from an RF signal propagating depends on : Your distance between transmitting and receiving devices, Line of sight clearance between the receiving and transmitting antennas and the antenna height. The signal strength observed at receiver is inversely proportional to square of distance or in other words it decreases logarithmically with distance.

Hope that makes some sense

Since way before that! As you know AO, there are always at least 10% who never get the word!

These devices only put out milliwatts of RF, so if they're interfering with Japanese military devices, I can't imagine what they need such sensitivity for. There are a lot of other, worse risks. I remember a story a few years back, the NTSB went on a big search for a downed aircraft, the emergency transponder was signaling a crash. They finally traced the signal to a malfunctioning Toshiba TV set, which they confiscated.
