Foreign Singer's Son In Drugs Bust

[floatr]Image[/floatr]There was a story a few days ago about how a guy was busted for marijuana possession:

"Raimon Kato, the 29-year-old son of well-known music duo Hide and Rosanna, has been arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana, the police said Monday. Kato, the second son of Hide Demon and his Italian wife Rosanna, has admitted that the marijuana found in his car was his, the police said, adding they are investigating the distribution route. About one gram of dried marijuana was allegedly found in a backpack in the car, which was parked on Kato's property in Meguro Ward, at around 2 p.m. Sunday. The police found the marijuana after Kato's family called them to report some kind of family trouble, as yet unrevealed. Hide and Rosanna, a husband and wife duo formed in 1968, were known for hit songs like 'Ai no Kiseki' (Love Miracle). Hide died in 1990."

His mum's nationality didn't jump out at me until I saw some of the pictures of his parents on the Iza site. Now I know who that foreign-looking woman is who pops up on cookery shows and TV shopping programmes all the time.

i don't smoke myself, but gimme a break. it's a single fucking gram of pot. it's a complete waste of police resources to be making arrests for possession. it's obviously for personal use and like most pot smokers, he probably wasn't hurting anyone. sure, law of the land and all that. it's a shame that laws rarely reflect common sense.

Japan ain't the place to do dope of any kind, no matter how harmless you feel that it is to people. The man has no tolerance and
if he gets you......

yeah, i wouldn't even attempt to toke up here. fortunately, there are places that are a lot more tolerant. every society has its norms, and agree with them or not, when one is part of that society, they need to be respected.

that said, i don't have any qualms with trying to change said norms in certain cases.

Ah ha - this is the woman people keep telling me I look like.

And a gram is crazy - but come on everyone knows what it's like here.

Yeah, it's better to beat someone to death (Sumo hazing style) than to get caught with a gram of squweed. TIJ.
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

I vaguely know what they mean. The 1968 vintage, of course.

(^_^)

Seriously one morning I had this drunk Japanese oyaji bail me up on the Shimbashi train platform insisting I was her and not letting me go until I had sang a song......

(Having no idea of any of her songs I managed to escape while he sang one to me instead...)

Hell, all I had to do was drive home. I got high sniffing the air. The farmers burn it at night.

Japan Zone: Roseanna's Tearful Apology
Talento Roseanna (57) gave a tearful press conference yesterday to apologize for the recent drug arrest of her son. Bowing deeply to reporters and TV cameras, she said she has no desire to see her son and is thinking of disinheriting him. Kato Raimon (29) was arrested on February 3 for possession of marijuana. He got married five years ago and has a 4-year-old son. But following his divorce last July he moved back to the family home, also shared by his sister Marion (26) and her family. It was a late-night quarrel between Raimon and Marion's husband that led the police to visit the house, which in turn led to the arrest. Roseanna said yesterday that she always believed her late husband Hide (1942-90) was by her side, but couldn't understand why he didn't stop their son's wayward behavior. Last night she performed at a scheduled concert, telling the audience she wanted to "forget about family matters", but she has canceled a concert in July to mark her 40th anniversary as a singer. She and Hide were a very popular folk duo in the 1970s.

She sounds like a real class act. Disown her son for getting busted with a little weed and then blame everything on his dead father.
