If Disney was really smart, they'd produce the anime in China or Korea, which is where more and more Japanese anime is actually being produced.

Disney will work with Toei Animation Co., Madhouse Co. and Jinni's Animation Studios, said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity to comply with company rules.

The move was aimed at localizing contents of Disney products for a wider audience, she said.

Interesting. But remember this is Pixar/Disney now, the Pixar guys are in charge of animation at Disney.

There's always room to work with top Japanese animation talent. But I suspect a lot of production will be sub-subcontracted.

Disney will create a Lilo & Stitch TV show for Japan- with a few changes-
Lilo will no longer be from Hawaii, and instead lives in Okinawa, Japan and will be called Hanako.
