Yomiuri: Woman, 60, held over mail threat to kill pupils
A 60-year-old woman was arrested Thursday night on suspicion of sending a letter threatening to kill all the pupils at No. 5 Primary School in Kunitachi, Tokyo. According to police, Kazuko Okabe of Tokyo sent to the Metropolitan Police Department a handwritten letter containing her address, but with a fictitious man's name. After receiving the letter, the school closed its doors Thursday. In the letter, the suspect wrote that she was angry after a pupil from the school who was walking in the street had banged into her as she was riding a bicycle in July. Police started searching for Okabe because she had earlier visited the school to complain about the same incident. Okabe admitted to sending the letter, the police said.
