Sept. 17 (Bloomberg) -- A Toyota Motor Corp. factory in Kitakyushu City, Japan was hit by a bomb explosion yesterday morning that caused little damage, police said in a statement.

The explosion took place in an electrical transformer facility before normal working hours, said Toyota Motor Kyushu Inc. spokesman Norifumi Wakikawa by phone today. The explosion did not cause any injuries and did not interrupt production, he said.

The explosion broke glass on a measuring instrument and created a hole 60 centimeters wide and 10 centimeters deep within the factory, the Asahi Shimbun newspaper reported today. The day before the explosion, a different Toyota factory received a threatening phone call, the paper said, citing the investigation. The factory makes parts for hybrid cars, the paper said.

Toyota shares fell 0.4 percent to 4,590 yen as of 1:17 p.m. in Tokyo.

Probably. Wish it'd been organized labor activists. When I was back in the US during the summer, I regaled friends and family with stories of Toyota's karoshi problems, rampant exploitation of workers through unpaid overtime, dehumanization of their contract workers and subcontractors, etc.

They reacted by saying, wow, it almost makes me want to buy an American car - at least the Big Three (soon to be the Big Zero) are unionized.

But yeah, lefties like Larry David who are proud of their Priuses may view Toyota in a less favorable light if they knew what a Dickensian sweatshop it seems to be.

Will they add more airport security after this incident? Obviously, with the ratio of foreigner to Japanese terrorist incidents (current running at approximately 100% Japanese), the government will have to do something to crackdown on the risks posed by the foreign scourge.

Maybe they will blame marijuana and start blood testing all foreign-looking people entering Japan?
