Japanese hit by the 1ST Trade Deficit in nearly 26 years!!

Postby Buraku » Thu Sep 25, 2008 10:35 pm

Kyodo economic news summary

Image

Japan posted a trade deficit of 324.0 billion yen in August, the first red ink figure in nearly 26 years except for January when a seasonal factor often causes a deficit, due to unabated surges in energy prices and the U.S. economic slowdown, the Finance Ministry said Thursday.

The soaring energy import prices overwhelmed growth in exports, which was meager as shipments bound for the United States, hit by the subprime mortgage crisis, posted the largest decline since comparable monthly trade data became available in January 1980.

I wonder if panic is going on over this?

Unfortunately in addition to U.S.A marketplace there are many ones all over the world desperately want Japanese products, unlike American shitty ones. Sorry.

There won't be a panic until after the shit hits the fan, this news wasn't really been reported by the kisha press club system. In the meantime more honest Nintendo earnings forecasters and Canon and Toyota etc earnings forecast might be revised down a little to brace stock holders for the coming impact. Global market coverage during the next Q2 and Q3 will probably be falling, people might even seek the refuge of Junk Bonds for safety

I don't think this is a huge deal since it is mainly due to energy prices. On a positive note it will force the Japanese to move towards more renewable sources of energy, like geothermal, wind and solar. I have faith that the Japanese can engineer their way out of the fossil fuel mess.

If that were true then why in the fuck is Japan experiencing it's first trade deficit in nearly 26 years? Why didn't they start exporting to all the many other marketplace all over the world to make up for the fucking deficit?

but where in the world do they export?

1Sell it in E.Asia: to the growing economic commies ie China-Russia etc
You got Putin from Russia still stuck in the past but sitting on gazillions of oil $$$, China growing fast and becoming capitalistic
Sorry shitty politics comes in play here both the Chinese and Japanese often refuse to see past their own noses, set up trade barriers over a small bunch of rocks in the ocean and this just hurts trade
GAME OVER
2Sell it in India
Yes India is a growing power but its Demographics which comes into play here. You have a few super rich Indian elite but no investment in infrastructure and most of India is dirt poor and totally fucked
GAME OVER once again!
3EU, Germany, Britain, Europe etc
The Euro economy is about the same size as the United States maybe even bigger. Yes they will buy up all that foreign stuff in Europe. They buy all the , Microsoft Nintendo shit however unlike the gas guzzling tanks of vehicles in America the Europeans with high oil tax are mostly obsessed with driving dinky little economic fuel efficient cars. The cars which now thanks to EU expansionism can now be built in cheap ass production economies Eastern Europe. Even Japan's karoshi work ethic and low mileage cars are all of a sudden playing a rough game. Japan is suddenly in a very competitive environment and then you get patriotic cunts like the French who never buy stuff from their Italian and German neighbors and will only buy French wine, French clothes, French cars, French French hookers bla bla Trying sell your stuff there in France
and finally its....GAME OVER

Basically what I'm saying if the US goes into a recession the world will also feel the downturn, I don't think there is an easy escape route from this mess

Don't worry about it Buraku, all those babies the Japanese are having will grow up and create an economic growth boom that will surely carry Japan out of this crisis.

Oh, that's right... sorry. I guess you guys are fucked.

That must explain why the panasonic and fuji cameras and sony PSP I've recently purchased were all made in China, just like that ipod thing that apparently nobody in the world wants

Well I think there is a difference between American products made in China and Japanese ones. Japan relies on quality and I assume they use better materials and engineering. Meanwhile America uses the cheapest of everything.

But again, remember this deficit was cause by skyrocketing energy costs. Go renewable and problem solved.

Didn't your gym teacher ever tell you what happens when you ass/u/me?

I guess you've missed the couple hundred food ingredients/labeling/'just because its expired doesn't mean we can't sell it' food scandals IN JAPAN over the last few years.

My point was that if its made in China, its really not a "Japanese" product anymore. And those Chinese, they would never, ever take a short cut on quality or substitute inferior materials (if not outright poisons) in production.
