It may come as a surprise for people to see table tennis tables in convenience stores and restaurants, but the number of people playing table tennis is increasing, thanks to the easy accessibility to facilities for playing the game. The Jinbocho branch of the convenience store Family Mart in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, is surrounded by university and office buildings. Inside the busy store, an area called Famitaku, partitioned off with glass walls, has five table tennis tables available around the clock.
