There's a Kyodo News report (Japanese) that the newly formed Tourism Agency wants to expand the number of Tourism Ambassadors working for the "Yokoso Japan" campaign. There are already 27 ambassadors, including fashion designer Junko Koshino and writer Alex Kerr, who have been put forward by industry groups and local associations. The Agency is now also asking people to put themselves forward in the hope that they can come across new people with fresh ideas. Perhaps talking with Alex Kerr has sent all the other ambassadors into a deep depression. Age, gender and nationality are said to be no barrier. You have until the 7th November to put yourself forward after which a committee will be appointed to go through the applications. The committee will be authorised to select 10 new ambassadors. The post is unpaid but successful applicants will have their biography displayed on the Agency's website and will be supplied with a box of 300 business cards and a badge. Send your applications by email, fax or mail to the Japan Travel Bureau Foundation. The telephone number for the Foundation is 03 5208-4739.
