Goodbye to a good man. Chikushi Tesuya dies.

Postby TFG » Fri Nov 07, 2008 7:22 pm

Chikushi Tetsuya the newscaster of the NEWS 23 program, has died at the age of 73.
He was indeed a relentless champion of truth and helped to expose many cases of injustice and corruption of the LDP here in Japan.

His kind of journalism is rare in Japan and few dare to go to the lengths Chikushi san did, in defense of foreigner's rights and discrimination.

Truly one of the few men in Japan worthy of the title of JOURNALIST.

He will be missed by many and may he rest in peace.

It goes without saying that he was one of the major faces of TV news. Rest in peace. Otsukaresama.
His [Brendan Behan's] last words were to several nuns standing over his bed, "God bless you, may your sons all be bishops."

good man, one of the major faces, Chikushi-sama, fine journalist, blah blah....

As always, You gaijins' evaluation criteria about Japanese is superficial and shallow.

And just what could be considered shallow about the epitaph written below?
The only post in this thread that is shallow is yours and I hope the powers that be on this board will remove it as, it demeans the topic of this thread.

Seventy-three years is actually a pretty good run for a guy whose nicotine addiction was so ruinous that you could see his smoker's-face wrinkles on Google Earth (Aoki Michio has exactly the same butt-suckin' wrinkles around the corners of his mouth).

I see Chikushi's grizzled likeness on Peace Boat flyers. Now, this may explain Take's snarky post: didn't he write once that Peace Boat has Sokka Gakkai connections or something to that effect? Or is it simply an innocuous - if somewhat loopy - activist group?

-catone
-Debito's essay on his trip with Peace Boat reads like some kind of Voyage of the Damned. Think I'll put that 1.5 million yen that's been burning a hole in my pocket to better use, like dinner at Beige.

I always wondered if the Peace Boat had some clandestine alien zombie connection. It turns out that the zombies are hard to pin down.

Although UNESCO seems to approve of the Peace Boat, here seems to be claims various claims linking the Peace Boat with Sokka Gakkai: Prophets of Peace

Apparently this foaming-at-the-mouth Japanese blogger has reservations....

Peace boat (AKA Orgy boat because the tour is super boring, the passengers have nothing to do but sex) founded by Kiyomi Tsujimoto the member of Social Demcratic Party, most pro-Kim Jong Il in Japan.
When Kiyomi founded the peace boat, she was girlfriend of Akira Kitagawa the former member of Japan Red Army.
In 1975, Kitagawa and other JRA members planned to kidnap Japanese in Europe, but arrested.
It is said the idea of the peace boat was given by Kitagwa.
In fact, the peace boat has visited North Korea 5 times (91,96,00,01,02,03) and this time they are going to visit Venezuela.
Kitagawa owns small publishing company now.
Ben Hills' anti-Masako book was published from the company.
Kiyomi's former secretary Masaki Ioku (now assembly member of Takasago city) was peace boat member, his uncle Fumio Ioku is Ioku-kai boss.
Ioku-kai is Yakuza under Yamaguchi-gumi.
(Fumio was member of Nakano-kai Yakuza in late 80s. The wife of Nakano-kai boss is former JRA member)
Peace boat-Japan Red Army-Yakuza-North Korea
They say the peace boat is non profit organization however the money they make out of the tour is the source of fund of JRA and maybe Yakuza

Hmm...the "orgy boat," huh? Wonder if Debito tasted some of that schweet, schweet Shaminto poon whilst on board. There was a time when I wouldn't have minded crossing the equator with Kiyomi Tsujimoto, though I do wonder if she's come aground on the Isle of Lesbos a time or two.

So Chikushi had been pretending to be a pacifist, who were open to foreigners, to achieve specific purposes.
But in most cases, people who are liberal in public are racists in their private life. Conversely people who are racist in public are liberalists in their private life.
Remember human paradox.

Masochist that I am, I went back and re-read Debito's account of his Chikushi-promoted Peace Boat voyage. Lowlight: Debito dresses up in a Burka to "see how it feels." (Guyjean: maybe you'd like to tag along next time. Maybe they could throw some big ol' rocks at you, too - sharia style, biatches!)

Anyway, he said that of the passengers about 60% oldsters who just wanted something to do, but the remaining 40% were socially-committed 20-somethings, and a few high schoolers as well, the great majority of them female! Now I'm thinkin' I might cancel my Beige dinner reservations and switch to lunch this Wed, and with the yen I save, get me a ticket for the Love...er, Peace Boat.

-catone
Soon they'll be making another run;

Um, ok. If you think so..

Is this another pro-Muslim anti-Christian thread? Cool! Can never have enough promoting the religion of extreme peace. :p

I'm sure Chikushi was a fine, fine man, and his passing will be deeply felt by all. But, see, here's the thing: he was a chickenshit. Here was a guy who defiantly kept butt-suckin' to the bitter end. He could've had a deathbed conversion like Yule Brenner, who made some pretty moving anti-smoking commercials before he died of lung cancer. But that would've meant taking on JT, and by extension the nerdy Todaisai at the Ministry of Finance and their gangland accomplices in the LDP. The Leviathan can crush a mere mortal, but if you're on the way out, what have you got to lose?

He could've really made a difference: the Power of One and all that. Oh well, he can rest easy in the Great Beyond knowing that his nikky addiction helped fund some seriously good times at no-pan shabbu-shabbu joints. Ma ne...

And just what have you done for this beloved country of yours Taketanpon?
the answer is NOTHING....But be the middle of the road chicken.

Really!?
Based on what? other than your paranoid mind that is.

and what "specific purposes" would he have had? I mean being fair and not a right-wing hawk nutcase like most in the corridors of power here he isn't going to make many friends, but

the point was he didn't take sides like a true Journo should be, very alien to narrow minded fucks like you.
