Gunkanjima was the model for the ferro-concrete housing that most of Japan is lives in today. Gibson's novels pale to the rainy scene outside my office now.

The site says that the mine tunnels have some maintance but its abandoned. I surprised nobody tries to open a Club Dead, Gunkanjima(tm), a BLADE RUNNER Resort
