'Longevity Gene' Common Among People Living To 100 Years Old And Beyond
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/02/090203081624.htm
Image
A variation in the gene FOXO3A has a positive effect on the life expectancy of humans, and is found much more often in people living to 100 and beyond – moreover, this appears to be true worldwide.

This discovery is of particular importance as there are genetic differences between Japanese and European people. We can now conclude that this gene is probably important as a factor in longevity throughout the world."

Every week (it seems) someone claims the discovery of a new LAG (Longevity Assurance Gene). First, people were all psyched about SOD and catalase, but that pair only accounts for maybe 4% of the longevity increases seen in long-lived D. melanogaster populations. Then came all the HSPs and how they provide longevity benefits.
Love to see some QG experiments that could get at the epistatic interactions among LAGs, but those are psychotically long-term.

I was going to say the same thing.

Just joking. Don't understand a word of it. Were you a scientist back in the world?
His [Brendan Behan's] last words were to several nuns standing over his bed, "God bless you, may your sons all be bishops."

Ahh, he's got a bunch of letters after his name, but that don't mean nuttin, when you ask him to sign his name on a bar tab, he unzips his fly. However, I think when he took his IQ test, he mis-spelled it.

That was supposed to be miss-spell! But, I do agree with you on the difficulty of the Quick Insertion test.
