One in three married women reported being physically or psychologically abused, harassed or raped by their husbands during marriage, a Cabinet Office survey found. Of the 33.2 percent of women in that category, about 10 percent said they feared for their life from attacks by their husbands and about 30 percent said they have been seriously injured or developed psychological disorders. Moreover, 11 percent said they faced domestic violence "frequently," while 22 percent said it had happened "once or twice." Only 4 percent of the victims had left their husbands. Married men were also asked about being abused by their wives; 3 percent said physical and psychological abuse was "frequent," while 15 percent said it had happened "once or twice."
