A study group belonging to advertising giant Hakuhodo will be holding a gourmet event for three days next month where all diners will eat while wearing a blindfold. This is to heighten the sensations and let the imagination run wild. Before the course starts, there is a reading from a seasonal story which helps set the scene. The firm ran a similar event in summer where the story was about swimming pools, fireworks and festivals. There'll be room for 40 people each day but you'll have to pay 9,830 a head for the privilege and apply through this site. Presumably, it would be appropriate if you also got blind drunk. One other thought does occur to me: this would be a perfect way for restaurants to avoid all those troublesome food mislabelling scandals because here, no-one can read the menu.
