Michael Jackson Fan Goes To Memorial Service

If you are wondering what passes for news in the Asahi these days, the paper has a story (Japanese) about 25 year old Akiko Senoo who didn't have a ticket for Michael Jackson's memorial service but flew to Los Angeles nevertheless. She stood outside with a sign asking for spares. A women gave her a ticket and she cried. End of story.

There was supposed to be a healthy dose of sarcasm in my comment (I really need to learn to be less subtle).

I don't have a problem with the girl flying to LA in the hope of getting lucky (she did). That's fine and cool, on a personal good-for-her level. What amazes me is the fact that it was deemed newsworthy by a major rag. That, to me, is beyond comprehension. I guess when you don't have any real news (there's gotta be something going on!), "human interest" is the easy fallback, no matter how uninteresting. :zzz:

If she was a true hard core fan, then she would have bought tickets to see him live. She just got on the whole media circus and wanted to be part of the history. What a fuckin joke.

How do you know she wasn't a hardcore fan? She might have been waiting for his last concert tickets to go onsale in Japan or she may have already bought them.
