Ota Ward Drift Meet Raided

Police broke up an illegal "drift" meet at Oi wharf over in Tokyo's Ota ward last night. There were 132 cars at the scene when police launched their raid.

I bet they used footage from a show promoting drifting to show the cars...
I broke a mirror this morning, which means I should be getting 7 years of bad luck - but my lawyer says he can get me 5.

Police broke up an illegal "drift" meet at Oi wharf over in Tokyo's Ota ward last night. There were 132 cars at the scene when police launched their raid.

As an ex-drag race enthusiast (yeah, street racing too, but at least 1,000 years ago in my dumb and wicked Brooklyn days), my thoughts are that drifting has GOT to be a lot more dangerous. Does anybody here know anything about the drifting mortality rate in J-land?

Serious... i don't know if drifting is that much more dangerous than the usual locals lunatics.... (yeah, i'm looking at YOU BMW drivers....)

Sadly, I missed the memo that the fun was on for Oi wharf last weekend.
A several weekends ago I noticed from a 14th floor window that there a hell of a lot of cars gathered on Oi wharf after midnight and I was wondering what that was all about. :-(
