Pretty much as it sounds. Husband in Tokyo, estranged wife in the US. The wife got some hardcore porn video tapes (which gives you a clue how long ago this was) and sent a large package to him. In a nice twist, she passed it to his US office and got them to send it by intra-company mail. When customs discovered them, the company received a reprimand and the guy was given an urgent message to get on the first plane home and present himself in front of senior management to explain what's happened.

It was touch-and-go for his career for a while but he pulled though and is now a top executive there, having outlasted most of the people who knew anything about the story.

I was thinking the same thing MC. Thing is, I heard about it LOONG before Snopes existed or Jarhead came out.
