Japanese tourist arrested over skink smuggling

A Japanese man has been arrested at Perth International airport for allegedly attempting to smuggle skinks out of Australia. A long-running Customs and Border Protection investigation led to the arrest of the 34-year-old man for allegedly attempting to smuggle 14 native reptiles out of Australia...more...

Never heard of a skink? It's a kind of lizard. I used to catch them when I was a kid. Now I know they're not unique to North America.

We don't usually call them skinks in Australia. The kind of lizard in this story is usually called a bobtail or bobbie especially in Western Australia. They're all over the place. Bigger than what you have in mind I think.
