Big in Japan (in the '70s): Oliver the Humanzee

This is not really topical, but I just discovered today the fascinating story of Oliver the Humanzee (half-human, half-chimpanzee), who was for a brief period in the mid-1970s, big in Japan.

Oliver was such a roaring success, NTV held a program (Japanese) looking for a bride for Oliver, with over a dozen women applying and a 19-year-old fortune-teller selected to become his wife.
It was not to be, and an offer from (still active) porn starlet Terumi Azuma to mate with Oliver was not taken up.

Indeed, Azuma's offer resulted in a lawsuit from the humanzee's owner, who had no intention of allowing anybody to make a monkey out of him.

My head hurts... humanzee... yeah... next on weekly world news, Bat Boy marry the woman with 4 arms and no legs and the alien from Rosswell expelled out of Japan due to expiration of his tourist visa despite the US embassy coming to his defense and taking blame for the administrative misshaps.
