Yomiuri: High schooler arrested over drug deal at school
A 17-year-old male high school student was arrested Friday on suspicion of passing marijuana to a classmate in a classroom at their school in Osaka Prefecture, police said. According to the Osaka prefectural police, the third-year student at the prefectural high school handed over a total of 1.09 grams of marijuana on Nov. 6 and 9 to the 18-year-old classmate. The classmate had already been sent to family court on suspicion of possessing marijuana. The student allegedly said to the classmate: "I've got weed. Why don't you buy it?" The classmate paid about 9,000 yen in total for the marijuana.

wow, Ive always wondered about the drug culture in Japan, while over there I was only ever offered cocaine, which I promptly refused.

9000 yen for a gram of weed......thats just insane.

Anyone know the penalties and laws for marijuana posession in Japan? It seems like Marijuana is a very rare drug in Japan, where now here in the USA I cant even walk to the market from my house without being asked if "Im Looking" by 5 different people....

No way, I wouldn't risk selling to high school kids, you know this kid is going to talk. And what kind of marketing scheme is that, "I've got weed. Why don't you buy it?" Come on, high school kids are overworked, tired, and stressed out. My approach would be, "Hey, you seem on edge, why not try something to mellow you out."
