Naked At Narita

Postby Mulboyne » Wed Mar 31, 2010 7:50 am

Yomiuri: Full body scanner to be tested at Narita Airport
The transport ministry likely will test full body scanning on passengers at Narita Airport, probably in July, to prevent explosives that can pass metal detectors undetected from being brought onto planes. The experimental use of the scanners, which can "see" through the clothing of passengers, will last about one month, Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Minister Seiji Maehara said at a press conference on Tuesday...However, there has been criticism that the scannings violate privacy, as the full, unclothed bodies are seen with the scanners. In response, the ministry plans to set up an expert panel, which will include at least one woman, next month to summarize opinions, including on which model of the scanner to introduce...more...

This storm in a teacup reminds me of the hypnotist who gave everybody on stage glasses that he said were "magic" and could see through clothes. the wearers were leering at the audience believing they were seeing *gasp* nakedness.

Some of the audience were convinced and started to hide themselves behind chairs in order for them not to be seen naked.

I dun'understand what ya mean...

But anything making air travel even more miserable while doing nothing for safety is... another reason I really think this planet sucks...

The underpants bomber wasn't caught because all the other safety measure in place were overlooked... In this case, you don't add more measure to be ignored... you try to train better monkeys to do the job... But then again, i usually try to be rationnal when I want to solve a problem... that's why I would not last long in business or politics...

What Israel can teach us about security
While North America's airports groan under the weight of another sea-change in security protocols, one word keeps popping out of the mouths of experts: Israelification.

That is, how can we make our airports more like Israel's, which deal with far greater terror threats with far less inconvenience.

"It is mind boggling for us Israelis to look at what happens in North America, because we went through this 50 years ago," said Rafi Sela, the president of AR Challenges, a global transportation security consultancy. He has worked with the RCMP, the U.S. Navy Seals and airports around the world.

"Israelis, unlike Canadians and Americans, don't take s--- from anybody. When the security agency in Israel (the ISA) started to tighten security and we had to wait in line for – not for hours – but 30 or 40 minutes, all hell broke loose here. We said, `We're not going to do this. You're going to find a way that will take care of security without touching the efficiency of the airport.'"

Despite facing dozens of potential threats each day, the security set-up at Israel's largest hub, Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport, has not been breached since 2002, when a passenger mistakenly carried a handgun onto a flight. How do they manage that?

'I love those gigantic t**ts'
The Sun
A HEATHROW security man was quizzed by police after ogling a girl colleague "naked" in a new anti-terror body scanner.

Jo Margetson, 29, reported John Laker, 25, after he took her picture with the X-ray gadget and made a lewd comment. The pervy guard leered and told her: "I love those gigantic t**s." She had entered the X-ray machine by mistake - and was horrified when Laker pressed a button to take a revealing photo....

I've said it before and I will keep on repeating it ad nauseum: It won't do any good to anyone, except for the people who make and sell these machines and the monkeys who operate them.

Since the attack of the underpants bomber it's been proven that even if he had achieved full detonation of all the explosives strapped to him he would still have failed to blow up the aircraft. He would have killed himself and maybe the person sat next to him, but nothing more.

terrorism is not aboot efficiency anyway... They got the same credit if they kill or just maim... the point for them is just being there and in the news.

That's what make 911 a littul disturbing...

... or just terrify people enough that they start freaking out and implementing so many idiotic anti-terrorism measures that they completely fuck up their own society without any further help from the terrorists. Just sort of get the ball rolling and let people screw up their own lives, then go on to the next target.

Incredibly efficient if you ask me. And it seems to be working.

That wasn't the intent, Col. Sorry if I offended.
I just needed an appropriate quote to hang my comment on, and yours was elected.
