Can't they get the JSDF on this? It's not like they got anything better to do.
I am not really sure where I am going, I just hope that when I get there, I can sit down because I am sure my feet will be tired.

I was thinking the same exact thing. Why don't we send Takepoo in armed with only his teeth?
Spare a drink?

Because the last thing they need is someone breeding with the deer.

If you're going to go out and play Elmer Fudd, why waste all that good meat! Put it to good use, I'd say! :drool5:

I'm going to go ahead and say what every pro-hunting/pro-gun person is thinking...

TOLD YOU SO. :p

What do you expect is going to happen to deer/animal population when hunting is effectively banned?

A man arrested on suspicion of shooting a protected deer in Nara Park last month has told police that he was in financial trouble and killed the deer because he'd heard deer meat could be sold, investigators said. Demand for deer meat has been increasing, and Nara Prefectural Police suspect that the suspect, Ginjiro Inagaki, 39, of Tsu, Mie Prefecture, targeted the protected deer in Nara Park because it would be easy to catch. According to Gunji Negoro, vice-chairman of a hunters club in Tenkawa, Nara Prefecture, one kilogram of wild deer meat fetches around 5,000 yen.

One more post to reach the milestone of 1,000!

No need to bring venison to Japan---Chronic wasting disease (CWD) that's endemic in deer, elk, antelope, and moose the western US makes personal importing of venison mega-illegal. (There's no scientific evidence that CWD can infect humans but no one can predict with absolute certainty that CWD will never cause human disease, so hunting in places like Colorado is down 40%.)

That 5,000 yen/kg price is the just the retail price. A cleanly killed and properly gutted deer carcass only fetches 2,000 yen and it must be sold to a specially licensed butcher/wholesaler.

Right now the Japanese boondocks are 220% over the forest's capacity to carry them, but nobody is willing the all the damn deer because the hassle of owning a firearm and properly cleaning/transporting a fresh kill to a licensed wholesaler.
