If erected, average annual salary for a local politician is up to 800man for a 4 day workweek. Have oft told my wiffer to put down the Pocky, turn off the telly, and campaign. God knows with her mouf a megaphone would not be needed...

This guy is my fucking hero. The neighborhood I'm living in now is the 5th place I've lived in Japan and the WORST I've lived in so far. It must be because it's old Edo shitamachi and full of worthless parasite senior citizens who have nothing better to do than vote. This past Saturday at one point there were four goddamn trucks at once pumping out that fucking noise.

Could I get arrested if I bought my own megaphone and started yelling back?

You know, I wondered about that too. Either start with some psy-ops shit, like high-frequency screeching or something more subtle, like breaking open a set of Bose noise-canceling headsets, hooking them up to a big amp and a nice mike and just canceling out the sound/wavelengths of the speaker trucks.

They wouldn't know what hit them.

I had Takahashi Chiaki's name echoing throughout my neighborhood all Saturday, starting at 8:30am...Motherfucking 8:30 am. Seriously thinking about assassination.

At 34 years old, I'd say this guy did it subconsciously to get kicked out of Japan so he could finally get a real job & life.

Thank God I got out when I was 27, and even that was too old, seriously.

I thought that was the uyoku who decided to trawl a predominately Brazilian neighborhood in Toyota-shi, only to find themselves sideways and on fire inside the "safety" of their black truck back about ten years or so ago.

Did this really happen? How cool (and satisfying). That's the way justice ought to be served. At least that's how it was served where I grew up. The authorities only got involved in the most serious issues. If you were being a nuisance or making an arse of yourself you'd simply get the crap beat out of you. "Common sense" was well-defined and very easy to understand back then.

It happened after 9/11 when the uyoku were harassing Iranians as well.

Asses handed to them ...

Postby Samurai_Jerk » Wed Apr 27, 2011 10:46 am

It's been well over 10 years since this was in the news but I remember when I was on JET a case where the yaks sent some chimpira goons to deal with a group of South Americans they had some kind of falling out with. They quickly learned they needed to step their game up a bit before trying that shit again.

Of course. We are too barbarian and uncultured to understand the subtle curvature of hiragana.

I'm just talking out of my ass, but I got this feeling that a lot of those posters are not out on their own, 20's living at home or hikikomori types. Have a few friends who are not unfamous here and they show me all the death threats they get from there, silly shit that you'd laugh at but still.

Actually, katakana is truly more indicative of traditional Japanese culture. Before the 1945 reforms to the language, katakana -- a "men's" script -- played the role hiragana traditionally performs today of supplementing kanji. (Hiragana also remains the women's and children's script it has always been...)
Have a look at government documents post Meiji Restoration and they are almost invariably riddled with katakana. That's because it was important and the writing real men use. Pre-Meiji, loanwords all used kanji. Post-Meiji, the male dominated oligarchy (aiming for brownie points from the hairy legs) running the cuntry also dictated language use and choosing katakana for foreign words gave them a kind of exalted status, which is why the military was so gungho about substituting them for "pure" Japanese terms in the '30s (hence Yomiuri Kyojin instead of Tokyo Giants).
Japan's emasculation following World War II also greatly liberalized the language and hiragana assumed its current role to give Japanese a ******r, gentler typography.
Postwar, katakana retained its somewhat exalted status, but paradoxically (courtesy of the llinguistic purges of the milllitary rulers) its sullied links with vile gaijin, which is what leads to the world's largest newspaper employing such a cheap - but psycho-llinguistically powerful -- shot in this day and age.
Still, TIJ, so I'll STFU and go buy my kids some Sambo dolls because they're so cute.

....what a fucking pointless post. Sorry about that!

Katakana as it was used in the headline was a bit like the gaijin noses they sell at Tokyu hands. No way to get around the fact that no serious newspaper would do that, but who takes them seriously?
