Immigration Bureau Lets Foreign Suspects Slip Out The Country

While the Immigration Bureau likes to keep a check on foreigners entering the country, they aren't so hot on departures. Four foreigners wanted by police were able to leave Japan, without being apprehended, in the first four months of the year. Police had notified immigration officials and their details were entered into the system. The Bureau says staff failed to spot onscreen notifications at passport inspection and waived the men through. This doesn't seem to be a case of a rogue official taking backhanders: 2 men left through Narita, one through Chubu and another through Kansai International. There's a fair chance other suspects were also not spotted last year. If Bobby Fischer was alive today, he'd be wondering why one of these officials wasn't working his counter.

Why is the world's second-biggest newspaper (if that means anything anymore) even reporting something like this?
Hey fuckwits, Japan is oozing radiation out of a nuclear reactor built on a faultline in an earthquake prone cuntry, has got an entire region devastated by natural disaster, an economy staggering for decades and you at the Asahi spend your time and resources reporting on four robbers/con artists who got away?

See SJ, you've drank the Koolade! All Japanese know that that was only part of the reason for the rice problem. The real colon killer was foreign beef which could not be adequately digested by four season people with long guts. Rice was majorly a matter of taste bud recognition, so it could be warehoused, but meat would spoil, so it could not be imported at all. This was a shame because they could then (and did) use the rice in foreign aid shipments where it would not offend the sensitive Japanese taste condition of umami....

I realize this post has been a bit wordy, but am submitting in consideration of offsetting cancelation of my Nihonjinron License!

My argument was that a sensationalized report on four fugitives does not warrant any column space and only got it because drumming up anti--foreigner sentiment is an increasingly attractive option for flagging mass media outlets in this cuntry, including the Asahi. I stand by that opinion even if perchance it didn't report anything like this in the edition you looked at.
I guess my wrath at the Asahi was stronger than it should have been because I expected better. Then again, as I noted in the earlier post, it has a record of saying one thing and doing another.
