Both the car and the truck tires look like they are getting close to the threads...hope the family of the driver will be well taken care of.

Truck tires are sometimes extremly strange beasts...

And you can see that the spare on the truck has exactly the same thread pattern as the fitted ones. So he can be also totally toast... But usually the spare is either nearly fubared or nearly new... Not common to have it at the exact same -bad- state of degradation as the fitted.


What I mean is that, for a car tire, being close to slick is a sign of heavy wear, that degrade the road worthiness.

For a regular truck tire... you can't tell as some even offroad tire have a more than 50% slick pattern.

For fast allweather truck tires look at pictures from MAZ trucks (537 and 543) they have all independant suspension and are designed to be fast even on swamplands.
