British rakugoka Dianne Kichijitsu (aka Orrett) has been the victim of an email scam. Her address was hijacked and messages sent out in her name saying she had been robbed in Spain and needed money sent to her hotel. Around 1000 people in her address book received the mail, although it's unclear whether anyone actually responded with financial help. Kichijitsu reported the matter to Osaka police who believe her password was sold online and the messages sent through a server in Nigeria. The rakugoka says the incident has undermined the trust and reputation she built up over 20 years.
