I had my camera so got some photos I'll post later. Seems like there's better things to bitch about here than K-shit.

just reading between the lines... people are protesting cause J-drama is shit and the koreans are taking over what the Japanese first succeeded at, then proved that there is much better shit out there.

The few good movies/shows/actors/actresses to come out of Japan never seem to get the same coverage a the shit ones. Decent acting overpowered by marketing, PR and overhyped untalented idiots who overreact with every line they read. It's just the popular shit ones have gotten so repetitive that even the Japanese have gotten bored with it, hence the move to the Korean ones which are essentially the same thing.

The topics at the demonstration:

1: Fuji Television is feeding Japanese Korean propaganda (including rude slang towards Japanese)
2: Japanese singers are singing K-Pop (on Fuji TV, I assume)
3: Fuji Television is 28% foreign-owned

I'll try to get the pics up by lunch.

Here is the set at (Bean) Flickr, in case you want to read my awesome, witty banter for each... it really does help. But, for you lazy asses, I've posted the images stripped of verbal humor.

Is that a rule? There's hot linking all over the forum (J-Babe thread, etc.). Sorry if I missed something.

No hot linking is for the FG's archive benefit NOT 'Netiquette'

Yes, it's a fucking Rule.
There are a couple of incorrigible boneheads who refuse to follow the no-hot-linking rule, which totally screws up the archives and makes the mods' job a pain (since the photos have to be reposted and often resized, which generally isn't worth the effort for the J-Babe thread). Arrg.

If it weren't for him there'd be no subtlety on FG at all.

Plenty of subtlety in the Fuji TV protests.

I will attach next time.

They are good photos. Thanks for sharing them. Not everyone knows about the no-hotlinking rule but it does help the site when images are loaded directly to the gallery. There are no problems also putting in a link to your page. I tweeted a link to it earlier.

D'oh, I guess I'm one of the bastards guilty of hotlinking  Will try to remember to use the FG hosting.

BOT, that English sign is great but it brings to mind the question that boggles the fuck out of every Japanese I ask. "What does it mean to be Japanese?" Even the more open minded J-people have problems with it. It usually starts with Nationality, then you bring up nationalized individuals from other countries and suddenly Japanese means Japanese DNA. Then you point out there is no such thing as "Japanese DNA" and so on. Try it sometime...and enjoy their frustration.

This issue was taken up by a TV program I watched with great interest a few years back. They did a "man-on-the-street" interview thing, asking people what made them glad to be Japanese, and the most common answer?

Yup: Having four seasons.

I kid you not. Of course you have to understand the implications of the seasons to the Japanese to really understand that response (hanami, the various festivals, obon, the seasonal foods, etc. etc. ... all the cultural stuff that's intertwined with the seasons), but there it is. Quite interesting, I thought.

LOL, I always get a kick out of that "You guys have ______ in your country too?!" The best is when whatever is in question is actually from your country. (My boss is always laughing at himself for being shocked that there were Denny's in the U.S.)

My boss admitted to me last week that he (63 yo) has never done a load of laundry in his life. Tried explaining to him that he would have more leverage against his wife if he could carry do the laundry, vacuum, and cook dinner, but alas........four seasons.

Plenty of stickies here... not seen one that stickies rules. I could just have my cock in my eye though.

Cheers for the tweet. ]Yup: Having four seasons.[/quote]

It is indeed nice, but that kind of defines the geography... not the nationality. Duh. I'm from Texas. We have 4 seasons, but 3 of them are just January, February, and March. Best thing about being a Texan: Being able to leave.

I'd like to hear a God honest answer to the above question though. For years I've always though the national flag should have a Subtitle, "Best enjoyed as a non-Japanese".
