From those difficult days and dark nights, Coedo has continued to make some award-winning beers that are helping to put the spotlight on interesting microbrews from Japan.

Coedo is probably one of the most boring microbrews I have tried, not actually bad but little improvement on Kirin Lager for about twice the price.

LOL, kinda feel bad for the guy if it's that boring after all that effort...but yeah, fuck the prices of microbeers here.

Overall I'm getting very bored of the Japanese micro brew scene and the prices make it even less exciting. For the price of three pints at a craft beer pub I can stuff my face and get pretty drunk in the shitamachi. I also think that the menus at most of these places don't compliment the beer very well (Devil Craft in Kanda would be an exception).

Look, there are some really first rate craft breweries in Japan and they are capable, in many cases, of making beer the is not overly expensive. Coedo is just not one of them. I feel that in order to appease the Johny six-pack crowd they under hopped it.

The big problems with micros is that you often find them split down the middle between those companies trying to make something really interesting and those just making a poorer-than-average German knock off or worse.

If the object is to get wasted, I would stick to cheap blend beers as you usually can't taste anything after about 3 beers.

Bashamichi Taproom is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. Hoppy craft beers do not complement BBQ. Their policy of making you walk downstairs to make an order every time is bullshit too.

I know John from Devil Craft. Pretty cool guy and was set on making beer + food at his place match taste and price wise.

I still havent gone down there and everything I have heard thus far about the place has been good.

Word. The pizza is pretty good. It's not New York or Chicago but definitely the best I've had in Japan by far and better than pizza at a lot places in middle America.
