As for the first story, Jesus! She's 22, not a child! How is this a problem for anyone? I mean, profs have sex with graduate students all the time, everyone knows that.

As for the second, that sounds like pretty cut and dried sexual assault of a minor to me.

The professor, like the boss in the workplace, is playing with fire when he picks up on students. If things don't go the way the girl wants, they face this:
His victim complained to school authorities

Regardless of the age of the woman, it's the imbalance of power between their two positions within the school that makes it improper (yes, it happens, but if things go sour the student can do what this girl has done).

It's workplace harrassment. I'm surprised he didn't get his tenure yanked out from under him.

Yeah, I suppose so. Still, I would hope someone her age with her education wouldn't be so gullible.

I don't think she was gullible... more like: "Hey, if I let this professor bone me, perhaps it will open some doors for my future career"... and when that didn't pan out, she blows the whistle.
