Taro, nice Photoshop work. I wonder if this record was supposed to be some kind of message that Yubari is not dead. I kind of doubt that this is going to be a true indicator of the value of gifts being dolled out for the summer ochugen season.

I don't know if they're right about that being a record. It seems to me that when there used to be a bidding war for the first and/or most perfect Yubari melons of the season, there were some bigger prices. Especially during the bubble.

You could go to most any departo in Tokyo and see a display of their first melon of the season that they had purchased, whether or not it was the top price getter for the year.

At two million yen or about $16,616, those Yubari melons ought to come with "Melon chan" (Hitomi Kitamura)as I have it pictured.

If you had her Taro, why would you need the Yubari stuff?

So you saying that since the economy is not what it once was the meager 2 million yen for those two pieces of fruit indicates restraint on the part of the bidders. I understand now.

Taro, when I saw that you posted this I thought I would be 'had' again.

But she does have lovely melons.

Japan's obsession with perfect fruit
By Roland Buerk
BBC News, Tokyo and Shizuoka

Senbikiya sells only perfect fruit - with a price tag to match
Giving fruit as a gift is a common custom in Japan. But this fruit is not your normal greengrocers' produce, complete with bumps, bruises and blemishes. The pick of the crop is grown with exquisite care and attention to detail - and commands an eye-watering price when it comes to market.
Classical music plays softly over the speakers in the Senbikiya shop in central Tokyo. The uniformed members of staff are politely attentive, ushering the customers to chairs and crouching down beside them to take their orders.
The ceilings are high, the fittings elegant, the lighting tasteful and the displays are beautiful. But this is not some designer handbag emporium or high-end jewellery store. Senbikiya is a greengrocers.
Gift of gratitude...more...

I am surprised that after seeing her chow down on that watermelon, you would want her anywhere near your dick. Not a body part that will respond well to flaying.
