Google mapping mysteries

Postby yanpa » Sun Oct 07, 2012 11:39 am

A deep hole in the mountains close to Shiratake (白岳山) Nagano

OK, so whose secret base / alien artefact cache is this?

(Google Maps link).

The valley floor to the east is around 800m, so it's mighty strange to have a big hole which goes below 300m, and is regularly shaped to boot. :shroom:

I sense a cover-up. Have you seen all the other perpendicular lines on the Google terrains map? There's something "They" are not telling us

Anyway, this is trip planning, not mystery hole research. We woke up around 6:30am to go hiking, looked at all the wet stuff and spontaneously decided on plan B.

I thought it was a G-spot....then I realized that was silly of me. No amount of technology, dedicated searching or intrepid gum-shoeing is ever gonna find that fucker.

They often do that for strategeric facilities at the end of *non public* roads...

Back home there is also an old tradition to screw with non native-language edition of roadmaps... they often lack few backroad intersection that might be used if the highway get sabotaged...

Pretty sure you can't find a road map for the German market better than this one:

It was designed for our tank drivers to stick on the rear window so they can find their ways while driving full speed in reverse looking in the rearview mirror...
Just hope the kraut don't guess the trick... and their cars are not too fast in reverse...
