I was laughing as I listened to the news this morning about cancellations and shite brought about because the flowers bloomed earlier than usual. It kinda summed up the whole economic process in this cuntry....everyone knows roughly what's gonna happen and when, so they plan accordingly. They go through a process of responsibility avoidance where they're told what the boss wants them to do, but because the boss has told them that, he (and it's almost invariably a he) can't be hauled over the coals if anything goes wrong. Then, the slightest change or alteration becomes utterly unacceptable, regardless of circumstance, unless it's an example of force majeure (and then they can say, shoganai, and avoid taking responsibility anyway).
