The photo my friend posted is on that site too, and it is indeed dated 1972. The other photos are much more recent.
None of the interior photos match my memory of the place (it went through multiple changes in the later years). Back in around '72 there was a juke box just inside the door to the right, where two customers are sitting in one of the photos above. It was on that juke box that I and a bunch of the other kids first heard Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" (released in '72), and speculated long and hard about what instrument could possibly be playing the main riff.

Good memories.

* I feel kind of responsible for causing this thread to take a sharp off-topic turn into Tokyo nostalgia. Sorry. Perhaps the Hamburger Inn related posts could be merged with the old Hamburger Inn thread, or split off into a new one.
