21 July elekshiun...

Postby Coligny » Sun Jul 21, 2013 8:42 pm

If the evening results are as surrealistic as my breakfast discoveries...

There might be some big surprise...

And some red with yellow hammer and sickles flags floating around...

Somehow I think few things are as surreal as your breakfast discoveries.

But full points for getting me interested enough to even look at results.

For those of a political bent, the results are being streamed live on YouTube in English.

What the hell happened to Ishiba? He's still got that permanent "I'm going to kick your dog" scowl, only now it looks like someone booby trapped one to blow up in his face.

Anyone know what checks there are to ensure that elections in Japan are fair?

I mean, if elections can be stolen in the US (G.W. Bush), then I do not expect any better in Japan...

What? Are you saying that you don't trust Japan's politicians and bureaucrats to be anything less than honest and upstanding to a fault? Are you implying that they're not deeply concerned about the welfare of the country and its people without even a fleeting thought for self?

Typical foreign barbarian!!

Ishiba is getting scarier all the time.

Didja hear about his recent "Those who refuse to go to war should be put to death" comment?

「戦争に行かない人は、死刑にする」 石破幹事長はこんなバカな発言をしたのか

For you Japanese readers, try googling the above, or just 「戦争に行かない人は、死刑にする」, and you'll get pages of links to articles about it. Doesn't seem to have had much effect on the election though.

It does, doesn't it? That wasn't my intention, though. There's nothing gayer than talking tough about sending off people to fight wars when you know you'll never have to go yourself. I don't think there have been too many Allies caught in Afghanistan by the fundamentalist Muslims/Taliban (the mujahideen freedom fighters when they were "our" guys), but when they used to catch Russians, they would not merely go medieval (which they do all the time, anyway), they used to treat them like their goats, repeatedly dry butt-fucking them in turns (probably because the arses were as tight as the 8-year-old cunts fundamentalists tend to like). I wonder how Mr. Ishiba would like to see people treated that way? Cocksucker....

You might be interested to know that for nearly all of the postwar era the Japanese Communist Party has constantly received more political donations than any other political party, including the LDP in its heyday. (It comes mainly from the nagging network of harridans it maintains to track down people and strongarm them into taking out a subscription in Akahata.)
For as long as they have been allowed to exist without having their heads lopped off as though they were filthy foreigners, Japan's Communists have always attracted firm support, but as in any other cuntry, no-one in their right mind votes for a communist.
