３日午後１０時すぎ、東京都足立区堀之内の路上で、１０代の女性が通行人に「知らない男に襲われ、刃物で刺して逃げてきた」と助けを求めた。通行人の１１０番で駆け付けた警視庁西新井署員が、付近の路上で男が太もも付近から大量に出血し、意識を失っているのを発見。男は搬送先の病院で死亡が確認された。

女性は「男が持っていたナイフをすきを見て奪い、太ももを刺して逃げた」と説明しており、同署は正当防衛が成立する可能性があるとみて、詳しい経緯を調べている。
　同署によると、女性は荒川沿いの歩道をジョギングしていたところ、面識のない男に突然ナイフを突き付けられ、キスをされたり、体を触られたりした。男がナイフを地面に置いたため、女性はナイフを奪って男の右太ももを刺し、近くを通り掛かった男性に助けを求めたという。
　男の身元は分かっていないが、５０代前後とみられ、帽子と黒縁眼鏡を着用していた。同署は身元確認を急ぐとともに、容疑者死亡のまま強姦（ごうかん）未遂容疑で書類送検する方針。

The extraordinary story of a girl who managed to overcome a man attempting to rape her at knife-point has been one of the most talked about stories on the Japanese internet today.

After grabbing the knife and stabbing her attacker, the girl ran to fetch help, but the man, who has not been identified, later died in hospital.

But did the girl act in legitimate self-defense?

At just past 10pm on October 3, a girl in her teens asked a passerby for help on the roadside at Horinouchi in Adachi Ward, Tokyo, saying “I was attacked by a man I don’t know, so I stabbed him and escaped”. A policeman from the Nishi Arai division of the metropolitan police who attended after the man called 110 [emergency number in Japan] discovered a man nearby who was unconscious and losing a large amount of blood from his thigh area. The man was confirmed dead upon his arrival at hospital.

The girl explained: “I seized the opportunity to take the knife from him, stabbed him in the thigh, and escaped”. The police are considering the possibility that this constituted legitimate self defense, and are investigating the series of events in detail.

According to police, when the girl was jogging along the path beside the Arakawa River, a man she had never met suddenly thrust a knife towards her, kissed her, and touched her body. The man then placed the knife on the ground, so the girl was able to take it. She stabbed the man in the thigh and went to get help from a man who was passing nearby.

The identity of the man is not known; however, he appeared to be in his fifties, and was wearing a hat and dark-rimmed glasses. While the police are hurrying to identify the man, they are in line to prosecute that the man died while attempting rape.

Did she stab him with an upward thrust into the abdomen, twist then knife and then pull it out? Then you could get her on murder... because that bitch knew what she was doing. But if she stabbed him once in the leg and left the knife in, I'd say it's a pretty clear case of self-defense.

The upper leg is a terrible place to get stabbed though, due to the huge arteries running through it.

Suspect in attempted Tewksbury rape took his lumps

With golf-ball-sized lumps on his head and cuts on his face, a 46-year-old Lawrence man was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing after a woman told Tewksbury police that he tried to rape her at knifepoint, so she repeatedly hit him on the head with a cooking pan. ...

Prosecutor Rachel Perlman that early Sunday morning, Tewksbury police responded to Extended Stay America at 1910 Andover St. for a report of a man covered in blood and bleeding from lacerations to his head. Harrison was bleeding from lacerations above his right ear, under his left eye and under his chin. He also had lumps on his head. He was transported to the hospital to be evaluated.
Police spoke to the alleged victim, who told them, "He tried to rape me."

The alleged victim told police that she met Harrison at a party in Lowell. He offered her a ride to what she believed was another party, Perlman said. Instead, they drove to the Tewksbury hotel. Harrison and the victim went to his room, where the woman called a friend to pick her up.

It was then that Harrison allegedly took off his clothes from the waist down, grabbed the woman and attempted to rape her. Harrison allegedly grabbed a steak knife, while the victim hit Harrison in the head with a pot. When the friend heard screaming, he began banging on the door. Harrison heard the friend coming down the hall, allegedly threw the knife and ran out the door.

But defense attorney Keren Goldenberg argued that this was a setup for Harrison.

It is little known, even here evidently, but the inner thigh near the goolies, where you might aim a knife in such an attack.. even a small incision and you drain yourself of blood in a hurry, very much life threatening.
