Japan Thinks Twice About Sending Troops

Postby AssKissinger » Fri Nov 14, 2003 7:44 am

The reassessments came a day after Wednesday's suicide truck bombing at a base for Italian forces in the southern city of Nasiriyah killed at least 32 people — 18 of them Italians, and wounded more than 80. Officials said several of the wounded are not expected to survive.

From Rob's link:

The Bush administration has rejected comparisons between Iraq and Vietnam, which traumatized Americans a generation ago with a sad procession of military body bags and television footage of grim wartime cruelty.

Maybe it's becuase the American public isn't being shown anything this time? Censorship, perhaps? Why are they only showing Jessica Lynch on the news? Why not these guys? Do they want to keep the "support" for the war from going any lower?

More stories you won't see on the news.

Very good point. I think the answer would be the same for most conflicts since the dawn of time. The people who decide to fight are not the same as the ones who have to clean up the mess.

Jessica Lynch is much prettier, and she also has all of her body parts attached.

Blame the media as well as the government. x number killed and x number wounded...wounded is very vague, but how often are they going to go into details? It's like most of the war movies from Hollywood ...nice clean kills and the good guys always win with a few scratches. Yeah, right.
