Two US Navy Sailors (both 23) Arrested for Rape in Okinawa

May 5: in Okinawa, 38 year old army officer Mario Antonio Romero ends up walking into the unlocked apartment of a 33 year old woman. She manages to push him outside and call 110. Romero admits to being drunk but refuses breathalyzer test.
The Okinawa incident has a groovy animation to go with it.

According to this 3D CG, US servicemen wear their helmets while drinking (to protect their heads when falling down drunk?).
And is it just me, or do those helmets look like German WWII issue?

Coligny, I'm not disagreeing. "WTF was she doing with her door unlocked" was also the first thing that entered my head when I read the story. I think if I asked Mrs. Omae Mona about the incident, though, she'd suggest we should have slightly higher standards for human beings than for cats. Personally I am not sure.

Now that the senior command has made it clear that the guys are not allowed to venture off the base to rape people, they've decided to take up some of the hobbies of the locals, as an outlet.

The US military is very clear in educating their guys that the US military has a special deal in relation to criminal justice. To be fair, the police forces near bases (and that will be certainly so for Okinawa) are aware that they must inform the base about any potential criminal charges. When I was stopped once for a breath test near Tachikawa, the police officers first question was whether I was from Yokota, even before asking if I had had anything to drink.

And more to the point

I'm being serious, not talking to the police should be taught to all FG upon arrival here standard practice for everyone, even in their own country. Don't for a moment think that your own police force is any better, or that the Japanese police force is any worse.

Touche...just found out a guy I know was on the news for rape, kidnapping, and some sort of fight with the SWAT team....locked up for like a year....only to pop out of nowhere with a crazy lemur story that should be made into a movie. Turned out his ex wife had an abortion that day, was high, mental, her jealous bf called the cops and made up some sort of kidnapping scenario....despite a history of arrests and drug abuse, and the dumb bitch being caught on a 911 call recording making threats to falsely claim rape if the guy I know didn't get back together with her.... he was still prosecuted and locked up for a year until it went to trial and he was cleared of all the charges )
