Yup. 50 yen will get you half-a-litre of something drinkable in a bottle.

Ironically the high-class Yamaya near my place of work (also selling champagne at upwards of 300,000 a bottle) has a display of a German beer called Oettinger marketed as "premium export beer", which caused me to snigger the first time I saw it because in Germany it's the bottom of the range stuff you get from Aldi or Lidl. Still beats the pants off Heiniken and co.

Funny thing is I was just researching Oettinger (and Kaiserdom) because I saw it at Yamaya. I couldn't help but thing the German beers not in bottles at Yamaya weren't exactly the cream of the crop.

Of course, the best beers you can buy at Yamaya are Chimay (blue), Duvel, Weltenburger Kloster (Asam Bock), and a couple other overpriced trappist beers... it is absurd that Budwiser is priced like a premium beer here. Japanese people even think it is the best beer in American because..well, they have no reason not to. It's expensive and it's the only American beer widely sold here.

My MIL finally understood the concept after I said (true or not) that Yoshinoya is the biggest Japanese beef restaurant in the US, so it must be the best, right?

Sukiya is clearly superior!! lol

Ironically I've never (or at least rarely) seen gyudon for sale anywhere but one of the big stores... and it's very hard to get right at home since you have to pick JUST the right cut of beef and simmer it for hours if you want it to be very good.

So, I bought a bottle of Jim Beam Black 8YO (the only bottle there... the rest was 6YO) and for 2400 yen it is GOOD stuff. I think it might actually taste better without ice, because it doesn't taste like 43% alcohol. As good if not better than Maker's Mark, and apparently it won blind taste test competing against whiskey's costing several times as much.

Jim Beam white label is pretty awful, though.

I wouldn't drink it with ice... Dilutes the taste.

Jim Beam white label ain't that bad man. Really easy to drink and a fuck of a lot better compared to other grocery store accessible whiskey for the same price.

But comparing it to the bottles you are talking about... Yes complete shit.

By "bad" I simply mean I can't drink it straight.

Black also tastes darn good as a highball...

The real price of whisky

The rare 6 litre “Imperiale” version of the highly sought-after Macallan M ‐ the world’s most sophisticated single malt whisky contained within a beautifully designed and meticulously crafted crystal decanter - achieved a New World Record price at US$628,000 at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong yesterday (Jan 18).

At $429,000 a gallon, that puts it right behind scorpion venom and just ahead of racehorse sperm as the world's most expensive liquid.

God, spilling a single drop would cost most people's monthly salaries...

Just tapped into a bottle of Knob Creek Single Barrel 120 proof and it some pretty decent stuff. A little warm going down but pretty fine all in all. Not sure if the extra cost is worth it but still pretty good!

2- what make you think the bunker is cool in summer ?

The aircon in the Note was miserable... 40 minutes to warm in winter, 1h to cool in summer. I think the best aircon I Xperienced was dad's G2 Prius.

Maybe expensive Nissans are better, but then they reach price of real cars from the 3 krauts... (There's a laser red A5 sportback in the hood... Quite sexay...)

Btw, where the F... Do you live, it's 3am and already 28°... IN MAH BUNK... with the aircon on... I don't want to know the temp outside... The numbers are getting scarier than my credit card statement...

I never said it was 23 outside. It's hot as fuck out there. Fuck tepco and the government suggestions, all aircon on at 23c 24/7 from may until october.

I also had a note and I never had a problem with the aircon except that one time it broke and nissan replaced it.
