IIUC, the entertainment industry has deep ties to punch-permed, irezumi covered, VIP-modded luxury sedan driving, conspicuous suit wearing sort of jorry good fellas. Why on earth do these events not have some sort of "protection" to deter the creepy psycho stalker types?!

although this is an internet rumor, looks like the guy repeatedly stabbed her face including the both eyes rather than her body.
its the reason she didnt die at least. if its true, its far heavier for her life than being killed.

I think you misunderstand what kind of protection is offered in a protection racket. It just goes as far as "Nice idol group you have there. It would be a shame if anything happened to it." They are not responsible for preventing illdoing by those without body artwork.

The poor girl Mayumi had repeated stalkerish messages on her social media pages. She went to the police about it. Nothing could be done under J law.
However, from what I heard she did not ensure she had at least a male friend or relative close by her at the event for some form of security. She is not an idol - she is still a wannabe, an up and coming one but still one of the many who are minor singers or musicians and do these meets and greets to increase their fanbase and profile.
She went away to do something (maybe get something to eat or whatever) and the bastard got her then. Somebody from her management or associates should have gone with her.
