As I saw in a comment on another site, what ammunition do you have left in your arsenal when "Yamatoooooo! If you don't stop throwing rocks at those cars, we're going to leave you in the bear-infested forest without food or shelter for a week!" no longer scares him?

Maybe fear isn't the answer? Hard labor? Weeding the garden? Taking away asobi privelages?

because of the lack of enough logicalness at the individual and social level, j-parents and j-teachers still depend on primitive conditioned stimulus. all you can do as parent is repetition of logical dialogue with patience.

Positive reinforcement instead of threats? (set him up to be successful)

I know nothing about little boys, though.

Helos with thermal cams would not work I suppose...

The kid was inside from the first night on, so that wouldn't have worked.

Might have...if he came out to see what the heli was all about. Though searching those buildings should have been one of the first things they did..

Ever since it has been drawn to my attention that the word helicopter is comprised of helico -- spiral, think helix -- and pter -- wing, think pterodactyl, I have had a fingernails on blackboard (showing my age there!) sensation each time I see either heli or copter.

Please don't do this any more.

Thank you.

How about the preferred US military term: helo?

Or the oilfield (and military) term chopper?
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

My friend was a navy helicopter pilot and he said no one says chopper anymore.

What a refreshing change to see we've stayed on topic and haven't been sidetracked by anal obsessive quibbling over trivial semantics. I usually enjoy the meandering detours, but with a topic like this it would probably just go round and round

Don't the different brances of the US armed forces call them whirlybirds by different names? AF uses helicopter, army uses chopper, navy uses helo, and marines point and grunt excitedly like chimps.

Typical anti-Marine bigotry. They do so have a word for it: I heard on the BBC's QI that they call it Magimix Belong Jeezuz, often translated in written Marine documents as Sky Blender Whirlytop Go Up Go Down
