apparently there is a tendency that gaijin dudess, especially western ones have potential hostility toward the whole japanese dudes and always show detached attitude toward us while want to get intimate with japanese ladies and girls as mush as possible. it makes me and other j-guys get disgusted and have another hostility toward you gaijijn dudes. what the fuck is the reason for you gaijin dudes to be so?

That's a tendency among certain expat men in a lot of countries. It has nothing to with the Japanese/gaijin dynamic.

As much as it's a chicken/egg issue, my experience has always been insecure guys, FG or Japanese, with the hostility towards the other for not being able to compete for pussy. Most of the time it's "Japanese" guys like Take though....because even his FG counterpart can get laid here.

That being said, I've met a surprising amount of FG women who talk trash about Japanese women and have yet to encounter a Japanese woman with the same hostility towards FG women.

Not buying it. I can't tell you how many times over the years I've heard FG men say how useless Japanese men are while praising the virtues of Japanese women. And I'm not just talking about sex.

I've probably said something like that a million times about certain J-dudes I know...but it's not out of hostility or simply "because Japanese," (if anything, they are the ones that make it into a "gaijin wa nandemo jibun de yaru ne" discussion) but in specific cases of where simple repairs/builds are written off as "dekinai" when something as simple as a youtube "how to" video puts it realistically in a "tada yaranai" category. Blame it on lack of confidence or simply not wanting to be put in a position of sekinin but whatever the excuse is, I've probably pointed out what a waste it is overpaying someone else to do the deed. (and it's not limited to the guys, more than once I've had my solution berated and question simply because they feel it's too cheap compared to what they're used to paying)

Anyhow, when I think of hostility, I'm more thinking along the lines of the angsty J-dude who "warns" J-females gaijin wa [insert blanket stereotype here] or the angsty, wannabe SJW westerner who perceives slights in everything and calls everyone out on them while explaining to you about how he knows every "they" try to do to you. Seen plenty examples of both and they're all insecure mental cases.

i guess j-peeping-into-bathroom like staring is the beginning of gaijins hostility toward japanese dudes.
staring makes you gaijin dudes feel like a pathetic solitude rare animal inside a cage of zoo. a typical sample of the "victim" is ryanboundless, who moved to thailand half a year ago and still is bitching about japan on his yt channel.
j-frowning faced staring is a daily occurrence to you gaijin dudes?

Not anywhere I've lived. I can't comment on what it's like in more inaka areas. On the rare occasion someone does stare it's usually a very young child. The only places I've been where people really stared at me because it was so rare to see a white person were rural Laos and black and Hispanic ghettos in the US. At least in Laos they usually smiled, waved, and said, "Sabaidee!"

Sawatdee? Sabaidee means feeling good/comfortable
or something like that from memory.
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Not in my inaka, Takechan.

Some people ignore me, but It's usually a smile and a greeting. Even the kids say "こんにちは" rather than "外人だ!" People up here are pretty polite. Probably because inaka communities are more close-knit and people are brought up to respect the "wa." In this area that upbringing seems to extend to outsiders as well.

The only people I get the evil eye from up here are other (usually white) gaijin who are just passing through. They often seem offended to find another gaijin obstructing the scenery in "their special Japan", or something. I don't fully understand the psychology of that one, but it's real.

Yes.

Also the town where I lived in Saitama years ago on JET had a lot of guys from South Asia and Africa. They used to really stare at me. When I mentioned it to one of the Japanese English teachers she said, "That's because we treat you better than them."

It's better. Urban areas and residents are by far the stariest and glariest as far as any of that sort of reaction goes, and I agree it is hardly ever an issue. The most most get in rural areas is a nonplussed curious up and down, then a shyish smile. BTW, I think most of that unhappy or hostile looking reaction is our misread of their reaction: they are nonplussed because A Not Ordinary Thing has happened, like the day Pooh and Eeyore Lost Their Way. Allowing that can be a very short trip to outright spazz level anger and hostility amongst 17.435% of Japanese males, that isn't usually what is going on. It's the way they look when that shiite happens.

The rural insularity thing is a myth, btw; they have TVs now too. It's such a rarity for most they are simply and genuinely surprised. It's urban bumpkins that cause a WWDD ruckus, if ever. EXCEPT for the sorts you and Yokohammer mentioned. FG residence in highly touristed My Secret Japan places is a source of TripAdvisor anguish for many Swedes and other anime dorks and it has been mentioned in more than one study of rural tourism as a curious amusement while on fieldwork.

Nice. Do remember that Many of Them probably = 1 or 2, or He Heard It From Somebody but still, like you said, it's the attitude that counts, and stuff like that shows an acceptance. Beri Kumbaya. I have yet to hear an Urban / Rural stereotype from either FGs or Jpn that doesn't seem truer in reverse, including the old supposedly positive one that rural people are warmer and friendlier while urbanites are cold and unfriendly. My hypothethith is that because they tend to speak less formally it is seen as friendly or warm.
Allowing that lots of rural people are friendly and nice and such, surprise, surprise.

BTW, I get the impression that Niigata is like some sort of backwoods Roppongi, judging by the number of foreigners I have met or heard of that live there, married a woman and moved there, etc. The water's too cold and the snow too wet for my liking but it is a pretty little corner, ferschur. I see from Wiki it was also a Meiji Era Free Port and it is big enough to attract and keep those looking for another Japan. Cool.

He named off a few people (more like 5 or 6) in the lil village but I don't know any of them...but yes, the attitude was very welcoming and in this guy's case, he literally went back home and drove back with a snow blower to take pity on me and my shovel, trying to dig my way into my driveway. Maybe it's just me and my experience and there are plenty of friendly people in Tokyo but I've seen more FG stop and help someone in obvious need of assistance than locals. (especially if it's dude) In Niigata, I've been offered unsolicited help more times than I can remember.

Aaaah, a good point on that willingness to help others.Yes. Perhaps that is one of the things people are focussing on when they play that Urban/Rural stereotype. I was talking more about sociability and general openness, which is far greater in urban settings in my experience. Neighbours helping neighbours is definitely a bigger thing in rural areas, but socially I found them far more insular and even dismissive of attempts to socialise. That might be partly a Geefoo thing as well. Niigata and the Kanazawa area peoploids always struck me as very warm and open in a nice casual way. I get that rural insularity is a function of the way they grow up and live (with the same people all the time), but where I was it was also due to the touristy nature of the town: 1,000,000 visitors per year in a 600 person village is a bit much. Also, my concern is more with the BS aspects of those stereotypes rather than who or how anybody decides to be, though life in a small place can get very lonely very often, especially around any festive period. It's just the way they are. I actually like and try to promote stereotypes (Cdns are loud, etc.), but obviously wrong ones being passed off as accepted wisdumb get to me, especially if they're mostly true in the reverse.

Right, you're more than local enough to get that. Yes, full Hida. Not even Takayama Hida. That's almost a city.
Hillbilly Hida. Another hypothethith confirmed. Nice enough people once you've sweated together over thatch or rice, but for a nice city kid used to manners and literacy..............yeeks.

Interesting point Matsuki raised about helping others, though. Lord knows most of any urban Japan I have been could use more of that.

One of my exes flew into Narita years ago with an overweight suitcase. She struggled with it at the airport, at the train stations, and on the street where there were stairs. (all the way to Saitama) She messaged me that night and said she feels embarrassed to be Japanese...at each step of the way she was ignored by all the Japanese walking by her and struggled until an FG saw and helped her. "What if there were no gaijin?!!" She said the worst part was the one at her local train station actually said "welcome home!" "Gaijin made me feel more welcome than other Japanese!!" Keep in mind this was a cute lil 21yo J-girl...you'd think at least some opportunistic J-guy who wanted her digits would have tried to help, hell, I've gotten digits that way.

It's like that in big cities all over the world. The gaijin who helped was either an opportunist or an inakamono.
