googletranslate and read it and you will cannnot help but understand that compared to your violent countries, racism in japan is pretty fucking trivial at least at the level of direct physical racism in daily life(not at the institutional level).

verbally abusing in your face, throwing eggs to you, ignoring your order and physically abusing. these direct racisms hardly happen here in japan.
"j-ppl are always staring at me as if i am a rare animal!! fucking disgusting! " so what? huh? just endure it like a dog.

I've yet to hear, or meet anyone who has ever heard the mythical phrase "yellow monkey" being used towards a Japanese or any other Asian so I call BS on that shit right off the bat.

If you read between the lines on most of the comments, most of the them are tourists or doing short homestays and encountered neg experiences with people in service industries who mistook them for Chinese...and while it is not an excuse to be an asshole to any group, I'm pretty sure you can appreciate why they have such a negative opinion of Chinese??

Anyhow, I'd take being called white devil a few times over being told flat out "sorry, this oyasan won't rent to you because you're a foreigner."

Second that.
Nor have I ever heard anybody non-Japanese use "yellow cab."

I have heard, and am afflicted with, "yellow beaver fever." "Yellow Peril" is another, and Bruce Springsteen sang about killing the "yellow man."

Derogatory English phrases referring to Mongoloid Asians that I can think of offhand are:
Nips
Jap
Slaphead
Powerpoint
Gook
Horry
Slanteyes
Chink
Rice eater
Charlie
Oriental, I suppose, but that has only become derogatory in recent times.

Like Matsuki, I have never, ever heard an English speaker use the term "yellow monkey" and contend that it is another term made up to pander to a persecution complex.

Cringe...Worthy of opprobrium on more levels than cultural appropriation, I think.

I realize as a beneficiary of white male privilege I am not allowed to voice an opinion on cultural appropriation, but if I was allowed to, I would point out to its advocates that they are appropriating my traditional tribal dress and they should probably have their titties dangling out like their ancestors did.

If you really want a complete list:

I think the term Yellow monkey dates back to WWII but you'd need an old fossil like Greji to confirm it. The term was used again in Vietnam and possibly Korea. By the time the term was picked up by the 1980's glitter rock band 'Yellw Monkey' it was certainly out of fashion, but since all glitter rock bands are known as guardians and purveyors of the eternal truth the media here bought it. The term yellow cab is largely based on a fraudulent story by Shogo Ieda and is almost certainly an invention of the Japanese media

It's bizarre how many Japanese believe them to be modern slurs used against them...but when you call them out on it, it always turns out the alleged experience was a friend of a friend or whatever and sounds like total bullshit.

I wouldn't call it a complete list. It doesn't even have jewgene on there.

I've certainly heard Asians referred to as monkeys but probably not yellow monkeys by anyone who wasn't Japanese or didn't have a connection to Japan.

Jewgene...............hilarious. I do think that is amnesiac, though. There were plenty of good Jewish gangsters before they got smart and all became doctors and dentists; heck one even started Las Vegas.

Yellow Monkey is like Yellow Cab, inMYHOMO. It's a made up outrage term.

Given the apparent shortage of sharks these days I am in wonderment how we keep managing to jump them.

Costume party highlights racism at Queen’s University, critics say
Eric Andrew-Gee
The Globe and Mail

The student government of Queen’s University has condemned a recent party attended by undergraduates that involved wearing stereotypical national costumes, photos of which have elicited heated criticism on social media for their “racist” depictions of foreign cultures.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/nat ... e32996051/

I haven't been back since I graduated, my lasting impression of the place is that it is a temple of Canadian White privilege (Winter Camp for Rich Kids), and it was obviously a party organised by the Faculty of Commerce, or Commies as we know them, but I not only cannot see any racism, I can paraphrase proudly and say that no Viet Cong ever called me Artsci.
That's Arts & Science for all you unblessed ;)

Some nice opportunistic piggybacking by an attention whoring unknown comedienne with no sense of humour or fun, but it will probably result in any shows she does have being grossly underattended.

I've noticed that trend quite a bit recently....and it leaves us with the fact that the only racism is from those "offended" because the alleged appropriation was done by someone who isn't the right race. (though I really hate the term "reverse racism" as if white people are just the default offenders and anyone else the victims when it comes to being racist)

At least Karlie Kloss looks good in kimono. Most gaijin in kimono, female or male, look like Alice the Goon wearing Bozo's bathrobe.

They key there is "radicals." And yeah, I think they are a bit out out there. One of my aunt's who has never worked a day in here life is one of them...and she just got on facebook. That's one feed I wonder how long I can follow. (normally out of comedy, I could put up with it for awhile but my uncle is in shitty health and she isn't exactly helping)
