Because the local men certainly don't eat spaghetti with the same sucking and slurping way, talking with their mouths full? I mean, that type of shit is ingrained in them as boys as acceptable and they get super embarrassed/offended when they get called out on it. From my experience, most younger Japanese females (and many older ones) find it disgusting and refer to it as "eating like a dog."　（Google 犬食い and prepare to be disgusted）It's only the obasan and older that buy into the Japanezuness of it all and say "it sounds delicious."
